You can only win at blackjack if you count cards. If you don't count cards even with perfect strategy you will lose in the long run. Since you can only win by counting cards it is impossible to win at blackjack in the long run online, this is because they shuffle the deck after each hand which they don't do in real life. However as all online casinos offer a sign up bonus you can make money through this as the bonus will cover your expected losses through play and just continually move from online casino to online casino to exploit the sign up bonuses.

You can find 2 online casino banners at www.comparerakeback.net

Yeah, don't bother. I mean, it's ok as a side income, but don't expect to be making any decent kind of a living.

The only way to become a professional blackjack player is by counting cards. It's really not as difficult as some people would have you believe, but it does take some practice. And once you get good enough to make a decent living, there's a chance you'll get spotted and banned every time you sit at a table.

I don't want to give you the impression that you can't make some money at blackjack, or that learning to count cards is a waste of time. In fact, I think EVERYONE who plays any amount of blackjack should put in the time and effort to learn to count cards. Just don't expect to be making a lot of money doing it.

I also have played BJ many years with great success. I limit my sessions to no more than 2 hours, and limit my chip loss to $15 on any table. If I lose more than that I switch tables or casinos. My win rate is around 70%, you must keep a record of all your sessions. I've have been barred in 3 casinos. You must learn basic strategy and card counting. The key to winning, is how you accept losing sessions, like the hotshots on the movie 21 that thought they could not lose.

I have played blackjack for a long time and I am very good at it. I tend to win more than I loose but it is a fickle game. Even the best players can have a string of bad luck and loose big. You have to know the basic strategy and you have to be very disiplined with your betting. You have to be able to get up and walk away when you are wining or losing.

Practice on your computer. There are several computer games that simulate blackjack play. But stay away from online casinos.

I would never do it professionally, Do it for fun, Do it as a hobby. Understand that you might lose.

It's OK. Cheap, quick shipping and it's a surface other than the dining room table to play on. If you play alot you can expect it to start getting little furballs.

I think I would go without a pattern on the next purchase.

This is by far one of the best non-fiction books to come out of the Vietnam conflict. The author takes you right along with the action. No BS or covering the facts or gung ho crap that is in most of the books about the marines. It was most interesting from a medical stand point as you seldom read about this part in any war book. I would say this is a must read for anyone interested in what the early Viet Nam war was like. I am now looking foreward to reading Black Jack 33 and other books by James C. Donahue. Try it, you will like it. I have a collection of app. 300 non-fiction war books and have read around 1500 more over a 55 year span.

This is by far the best book I have ever read on the Vietnam War. Once the fighting starts it is difficult to put down as you have to know what happens to the team and to the individual players. If any book should be made into a film then it should be this one.

A fabulous book for anyone looking for firsthand accounts of the great work our fighting men & women did in Vietnam, and an excellent antidote for the overplayed drivel Hollywood & the "mainstream" media try to spoon-feed us.

The author provides a minimal amount of background info on himself and the Mobile Guerilla Force, and then jumps right into the action. He gets your heart pumping and your senses instantly alerted through first-person writing, and once you start this book it is very difficult to put down. Mr Donahue does not hold back anything from the reader either; he skillfully relates the sights, sounds, smells, and even tastes of combat in Vietnam.

If you are looking for a well-written first-hand account about the experiences of combat in Vietnam, then I highly recommend this book. If you are a little squeamish, or prefer to research the unit histories and command structures of combat units in Vietnam, well, I STILL recommend this book (and all of Mr Donahue's books).

I just got done reading Blackjack-34 and could NEVER put it down! I read it in 3 days! Mr. Donaue really brings the war into your head and doesn't add all of the REMF bullcrap. Just dirty, bloody, and sweaty soldiers fighting, and dying for our great counrty. He lets you HEAR the bullets crack, the shrieks of friends, the whack of lead hitting flesh and bone. Best book on Vietnam that I have ever read! I can't wait to be a Special Forces soldier too someday.

U.S. special forces experience varied widely in Vietnam. The A Teams, the Greek letter projects, the MIKE Forces, and MAC-V-SOG all fought different fights of a large and very complex war. Within those units, none was more unique than Donohue's, which morphed from an A Team on a mobile guerrilla mission, into the B-36 Special Task Force, much later into the B-36 MIKE Force. Donohue describes the early days, when the window of opportunity for mobile guerrilla operations against the NVA and VC Main Force regiments was wide open. If you want to know what it was like to be with a small band of American special forces (and one Australian), leading companies of Cambodian nationalist rebels from the Khmer Serai against one half of their ancient enemy, then this is one of two books you must read. This is a war of companies against battalions, out well beyond the range of artillery where American forces were not allowed to go, where junior sergeants functioned as platoon leaders during the heavy fighting, and then quickly morphed into medics and radio operators. Read this, and Donohue's Blackjack-33, and you'll have enjoyed some of the finest combat writing to come out of the 5th Special Forces Group.

You should be able to find 10-dollar tables without much problem. Keep walking the boardwalk until you find one with 5-dollar minimums. It'll save you money the more you shop around!

Good luck!

There are a million card counting books out there, most of which offer a more thorough examination of card counting than this one does. But then again, for most of us, 300 pages about the minutae of card counting may be a bit much.

What this book offers is a quick but sufficient introduction to basic strategy and card counting based on Stanford Wong's Hi-Lo system, which is pretty easy to learn. Blaine spends a chapter on teaching the reader how to count, and then another one on how to adjust to a true count. Subsequently, he shows how to tailor your play (and betting, of course) to the count.

The card counting portion takes up less than half of the book. Some of the rest of the book may or may not be interesting to some readers. The sub-title of the book is "How to Play Like a Pro...Part-Time", but much of the remainder of the book is more "professional" in nature. There is a section on zone tracking as well as a LOT of stuff on team play.

I am not a professional card counter. In fact, I read the book based mostly on curiosity and the desire to perhaps play at a slight advantage at low stakes on Vegas trips. However, I still found the section on team play interesting on its own merits. Blaine kept a diary of a team and its successes (or in this case, failures). It was nice to see that Blaine didn't sugar coat things and included a section on how even at an advantage, negative swings are inevitable at times.

If you're planning a trip to Vegas, the book is definitely worth a read. Pick it up a few weeks beforehand and give the card counting tips some practice and I think it'll be more than worth the twenty bucks you shell out for it.

Rick "Night Train" Blaine is a top-notch blackjack player and an excellent writer. He's combined the two skills to create a book that is user friendly, extremely informative, and totally beneficial for seasoned players as well as beginners. Besides serving as a terrific primer for anyone who wants to learn how to count cards, Blaine's book is loaded with illuminating tips and anecdotes from inside the world that inspired Bringing Down The House. Prior to reading Blackjack Blueprint, I was pretty much of a blackjack sucker. After reading it and implementing Blaine's strategies -- as I recently explained in the pages of Cigar Aficionado magazine -- I became good enough to get backed-off in a Vegas casino. And, as every blackjack pro knows, when they don't want you to play, you're doing something right. This book is the real deal. Read it and make a pit-boss weep.

Although Rick Blaine has had a "square" job most of his life, he writes with the full knowledge of someone who has spent his life "in the trenches" of playing advantage blackjack around the world.

His step-by-step course in learning basic strategy and card-counting blackjack is excellent and utilizes drills and quizzes to solidify the material in the readers' mind before proceeding to the next level. Basic strategy and counting are concepts that are taught in other books, but are very well-presented here.

Blaine pays attention to concepts such as bankroll sizing, dealing with all the different people in the casino chain of command, and how and when the casino is observing you that you might not be aware of. The thing that sets this book apart is that Blaine leaves no stone unturned, whether it is discussing casino cheating, tournament play, comp-garnering strategies, shuffle-tracking, ace-location play or the several chapters on team play.

In my mind, his most useful sections are on casino comportment and camouflage, and his discussions of the patience and discipline required to become a long-term winner.

This book has a wealth of information for beginners, intermediate players, and even those who have been playing with an advantage for many years.

Not only is this book full of valuable information, it is presented in a way that is easy to learn the right way to make money playing Blackjack. Blaine is meticulous. His insight and those of his contributors are what casinos fear most. Great reference for those serious about making money playing Blackjack.
